Mythopoetic Mapping: Locating Ourselves Through Myth, Story, and Folklore
How stories transform us from the inside out, and the outside in.
Story permeates our lives.
Whether they are the stories that gently unfurl in our souls as we navigate through our own chapters, or the tales we pass on from generation to generation, meaning making is a tool that is baked into our very essence. In this introduction session of Mythopoetic Mapping we will dive into understanding how to intentionally use myth, story, and folklore to enrich our lives. Additionally, we will learn how to start courting the mythopoetic threads that are unique to the journeys inside of us.
This container is a "come as you are space" meaning that you can walk entirely off the street with no formal experience in storytelling or understanding of mythology, archetype, symbology, or folklore and still be nourished by the space. You can connect with others as little or as much as you feel comfortable and rest back into the container as you feel called. Art supplies, journaling prompts, reflection questions, and live story-telling will all be provided as we gather.
What to expect:
A gently facilitated container with clear guidance through story, reflection, and art practice
A live story-telling of “The Lindworm” - A Scandinavian myth that has roots and influence from the Near East
Opportunity to engage artistically or through journaling
Large clipboards and paper for art provided
Art supplies such as markers, crayons, and colored pencils
Please bring:
Your journal, (paper will be provided in case you forget)
Your favorite pen/pencil, (a handful are available for use if you forget)
Water bottle or NA beverage of your choice - Cacao Bar will be open for drink purchases
Your soul-hearing, open heart
