The Bible in Context

Understanding an ancient book in modern times.

Are you intrigued by the Bible but tired of religious assumptions getting in the way of understanding it? Do you want to explore its history, meaning, and impact without feeling pressured to conform to a specific belief system? If so, Bible in Context: Reframing Genesis & John could be for you.

This is not your grandma’s Bible study. There are no conversion tactics, no denominational agendas—just real discussions, historical insights, and the freedom to wrestle with these texts on your own terms. Wrestle with the Bible free from denominational loyalties and discover what the historical Bible was actually wrestling with. Together, we’ll dissect the Bible as it is: a collection of ancient scriptures grappling with life, spirituality, mythology, psychology, and philosophy.

What to expect:

  • An interdisciplinary and approachable look at the Bible: Three survey classes, one on Genesis, John, and then Revelation.

  • Personal authenticity and transparency from the teacher

  • Group guideline for the space

  • A safe and relational environment. No conversion or sales tactics (all profits go to SA).

  • Q&A

  • A healthy mix of philosophy and psychology

  • PG-13 discussions (real human and societal topics will come up, with some humor)

  • To walk away with more questions

Please bring:

  • Pen and something to take notes on, if you’d like

  • Someone to discuss with afterwards

  • An open mindset and no agenda

  • Optional: a bible (Paule uses ESV but phones work great)

  • Recommended: Cash for a cacao
