The Menopause Map

May: Estrogen: Friend, Foe, or Both?

In perimenopause, estrogen isn't just a hormone—it's a presence. For decades, it was the architect of our cycles, the guardian of our bone density, the boost to our collagen, and the moderator of our mood. Then, as it begins its erratic exit, the relationship changes. One week it's our ally, bringing energy and spark; the next, its sudden drop leaves us feeling foggy, inflamed, or untethered. It's confusing to miss something that also made us feel weepy or heavy-breasted just days before.

This month, we're holding the complexity. We're rejecting the oversimplified narrative that estrogen is either a "good" or "bad" hormone and instead exploring its full choreography—the ways it rises, falls, and ultimately retreats, reshaping our bodies and experience as it goes. Our guiding practice is one of curiosity: noticing where estrogen is showing up in our sleep, our skin, our patience, or our passion. By mapping its movements, we can shift from feeling victimized by the fluctuation to becoming informed participants in our own story.

What to Expect:

You are invited to pull up a chair (or a yoga mat, or a cozy blanket) and join us for an honest, judgment-free conversation about (peri)menopause.

This is not a lecture. It's a gathering of women who are tired of being told "just relax" and are ready for real answers and real support. Together, we'll unpack the "hormone chatter" you hear online, translate the science into plain English, and leave you with one gentle, doable practice.

Come as you are—tired, frustrated, hopeful, or all of the above.

What to Bring:

  • Your curiosity: Bring your questions about the topic and what's happening in your body.

  • A journal and pen: We'll have moments for reflection and note-taking.

  • Something cozy: A favorite mug for tea or cacao, a soft blanket, or comfy socks. We're creating a space where you can physically feel safe and at ease.

  • An open heart: This is a space free of judgment. Your story is welcome here.
